Thumbs up

Okay, so I took my car to a body shop to put an ACS type roof spoiler on my car. First they used 3M tape as recommended but after a day it was coming up on both sides. Yesterday I brought it back and they used a healthy bead of silicone glue. Today the thing was sitting on my trunk completely detached. The curvature of the spiler is perfect against the window si it's not due to that. I searched for previous threads but couldn't find one for roof spoilers. How are you guys attaching them and are they staying put?

The trick to keeping these things on is to clean the surface with a non oily cleaner ie alc. and then heat up the spoiler and window , ie warm garage..... use tape for the top and bottom and silicone on the sides then tape it down and leave it for at least 12 hours............I got pissed with mine and ended up taking it off but I'm thinking of putting it on my new car.....
Cheers

The window was cleaned thoroughly. The car sat in a heated garage for a couple hours to heat up the window and about 8 hours after each installation. I doubt a couple more hours would make much of a difference. The silicone completely came off without even pulling on it. The tape held better but only in the center of the spoiler so it was only a matter of time before it came off. Both times I pulled hard on the thing to see if it was stuck on there and it wouldn't budge. This is pretty frustrating.

That stinks, I am thinking of getting an AC style roof spoiler. I have always had good luck with 3M molding tape.

Hopefully some one who has had more succes will chime in.

Can I ask where you got the spolier, I don't want to pay Schnitzer prices for a piece of fiberglass...

which 3m double sided tape are you using, make sure its the kind for autobody molding

try putting two layers of 3m on the sides, its not gonna be flush but it will keep the sides sticking since the sides will come up, it fill the gap w/ tape and keep it sticking , since the replicas don't really fit quite right.

Mine is doing the same thing. I spoke with Calton, he said go to Perfect Ten Auto Body and they will mold it on.

Third time's a charm? The spoiler was attached yet again using 3M Panel Adhesive this time. It's been on for 3 days and survived 90MPH+ so hopefully this did the trick.

Maybe the car was rejecting the spoiler and they didn't get to know eachother. Now your car has accepted that extra piece and doesn't feel so bad.

Car modding is like Women and plastic surgery. Your car was probably insulted by trying to add a spoiler and was like, "Hell no, I don't need that" and after a week.. she (your car) realized you were right. hahahha

Enjoy dude, and post pics. Where did you get it btw? I'm thinking of getting one, along with a m5 spoiler (fake of course).
