Trunk Finisher: Pros and Cons
#1
Hi Everyone,
I was thinking about installing a trunk finisher on my 2007 530i to enhance the rear appearance and I was wondering if anyone encountered problems with this add-on?
Thanks,

My Ride: 2006 Titanium Silver BMW 530iA, Sport & Premium Package, Active Steering, Anti-Roll-Suspension, Adaptive Headlight, Navigation, OEM M-Tech Kit, Authentic RD Trunk Spoiler, VIP Modular Wheels: 245/35/20; 275/30/20, OEM M Trunk Finisher.
How would it look with the full M-Tech kit without the trunk spoiler? Or is that a must have (trunk spoiler) to make it look right?
Thanks,
Daniel

With the trunk finisher installed, the horizontal ledge of the rear bumper cover has a tendency to get scratched. Not sure if it is from closing the trunk hard or rocks and debris getting caught between the bottom edge of the trunk finisher and the rear bumper cover.

You lose the trunk keyhole and the ability to valet your trunk. I lock my trunk with the keyhole anytime I valet my car or park in a lot where you need to leave the key. I also lock it with the key overnight to keep someone from simply breaking my window and popping the trunk via the interior button.
If I saw two e60's one with and one without the finisher, I don't think I would really notice the difference w/o it being pointed out. So, that mod is really low priority.
I don't even notice the keyhole on my driver door unless I need to stick the key in there.

Thanks everyone. All of the replies make perfect sense and outside of the cosmetic application is it really practical. The money that it will take to purchase and paint the part could be used for something with a more practical application. It all comes down to personal preference. Again thank you for the replies.

I think it would look a little different without any spoiler on the car, the car might look 2 flat from behind but I have never tried that, I think Howitzer currently has that setup if I am not wrong.

+1 on the trunk finisher being low priority. It's not too noticable.
