I spoke to NAV-TV today. http://www.nav-tv.com/index02.htm

They said the E60 iPod integration product should be available mid-March. They have a 7 series prototype working, and are working on a E60/E90 solution, which they expect to complete by the time they receive production boards for the 7er in mid-March, which will also be used in the E60/E90 product.

The product will be integrated in iDrive via MOST, as a sub-menu in either the CD changer or satellite radio menu (depending on which option your car has). In the CD changer example, it will appear in iDrive as a 7th item in the CD changer sub-menu (after CD1, CD2, etc.), and the UI will mimic the iPod interface.

Dension will also resell their product, so it appears Dension gave up on iDrive integration.

Pricing not finalized yet, but they said perhaps $600 ballpark.

I've been happy with my hardwired iPod install, but look forward to a true iDrive integration--let's keep our fingers crossed!

just make it this way Dension did NOT give up anything, they WILL have a true-idrive integrated-more sophisticated one than before was planned- that is the reason for the 'delay'... I talk to them each week so they assured they are close to come up with some surprise they did not say brand name but features will be something

I agree you need to take what vendors tell you with a grain of salt! I honestly don't care who comes out with a true iPod integration first--as long as somebody does!

I'd like true intergration as it would be very convenient...but in the $600 range!!!!! Come on now, I don't think this price range will fly. Specially in this day and age when you can buy a brand new laptop for even less than that. I say $150 tops is what it should go for!

That price point is pretty steep by any measure for Ipod player integration. I think they will rethink their price point. Probably based on their view of the world from this and other forums with a pent up desire for true integration. I don't even have an iPod so I would be looking at near $1000 for something like this, assuming this is for iPod specifically and not a generic MP3 player solution. Also, we do want Denison to keep going as we need the competition in true integration solutions to drive the market price down.

I did see something mentioned over on m5board where NAV-TV is a sponsor about discounted price as well. So lets also be thinking about group buys here to also help drive the price down.

I gasped when he said $600, and said "wow--$600?" He said it was too early to finalize pricing. To be fair, he didn't want to talk about price, but I pressed him for a ballpark figure, so hopefully he guessed on the high side.

I called as well and the person I spoke to would not speak to the price. I actually read what u posted and he nodded his head at everything, but the price. There is so much demand for this across the MOST based BMWs now I think they are hoping from a business case/marketing perspective to get this but I hope cooler heads prevail.

MBZ has iPod integration as standard, so any charge above $200 from BMW is ridiculous. If they do, I'm sure they'll pay heavy penalty in term of warranty.

You might like to know that new E60/E61s will have the aux-in socket fitted at the factory from build week 9, at least for UK. See photo at
