i just put on 20" tork wheels and i was wondering does the tire pressure system automatically know that i changed wheels and will work or do i have to do something like take something off the factory wheels?

I believe you have to either buy after market sensors, or have the old sensors inbetween your tires and rims removed and installed in your new tire/rim package.

Depends on the model year of Car, Early E60's used the ABS sensors to check the Air preshure ( how fast the wheel was rotating compaired to others.) THe LCIs have TPS system mounted on each rim ( special Valves and sensor pack on the barrel of the rim)

So if yours uses the ABS system , yes, if it uses the TPS system, no , you would need the sensor kit, and some aftermarket rims can't fit the valve stems without modification ( read as drilling a bigger whole,I think the bmw TPS Valve stems are 11mm, while most after market rims have 8mm wholes for the valve stems.) I heard that Tire rack may have some smaller diameter TPS valve stems, but I'm not 100% on it.

All that the car would need is for you to reset the TPS system via iDrive menu once you have the tire/rims/sensors fitted to the car.

100% correct on the valve stem holes, did you read it from one of my threads? =P tirerack sells them for about $10 per 8mm valve stem. what's your location? For us model, any 07 models and later have the TPS systems, 06 and before is ABS (or they called it like FTPS).

No for 2006 model and older.

Yes for 2007 model and newer.

Sensors only work on TMPS (post 2007 models)

You may have to rest the TPSM on Idrive while in park , but other than that if it is before 07 you won't need to do any thing.

fastkevin did you get the 346's ( M6 reps), no drilling required for the tps? How do you like, them any vibration issues.

M6 Time Attack. Like 'em a lot. Clean looking wheels, no vibration, but they did have to do a dynamic balance. They were missing the center caps, and I shoulda received them by now, but haven't. Reminds me.. Gotta hit up the "R1" dude
They simply removed my stock sensors and installed on the Miros.
