I have bought used rims with Vredestein Ultrac tyres on them last year, I had no experience with this brand before, but I have to admit, they are amazing, silent, perfect handling and good looking tyres with Giugiaro design for a very good price. Also their lifetime seems to be quite good. Before I had good year eagle, they were good, but not better.

I had the Pilot Sport PS2 on my M3 and replaced them with Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position and was thrilled by the difference. The Bridgestones handled way way better, were actually quieter and CHEAPER.
Oh yes, I had those Bridgestones on the Porsche, they were very good!

My first choice was the Bridgeston RE050s but no one had the 275/35/18 rear tires in stock. They said it would have to be a special order with a 1 - 2 week lead time. It sure would have been easier on my wallet.

I'm a bit late with my thoughts, but I'll add them anyway I also live in Houston and am going through the same tire decision process, but for 19's. Agree that you don't need an all season tire in Houston, so if you're looking for better tread life you might want to consider the Bridgeston RE760 next time. I'm considering them but was looking for feedback on how they work on a 550i first

Save your money...get some Nitto 555s. You can pick some up for around $245 each for the rears and even less then the fronts. With the money saved you can get Sprint Booster or something like that!

Tire Rack has 275/30-19 Bridgestone RE760 Sport for $236 each

I have the Sport Auto Transmission, I'm not sure that the SB is much different from the throttle remap I get when pressing the Sport button, plus I like to use the slower throttle response of the non-Sport mode when I'm in heavy traffic.

I'm on my second set of PS2 and really like them. However, they're pricey and wear out pretty quick.

Perhaps I should give Bridgestone a try.

One reason I went with the PS2s was the 220 tread rating over the 140 for the Bridgestone RE050 for both RFT and non. I was able to get about 25k miles out of Bridgestones, so I think I can get at least the same mileage from the PS2. Yes, it's wishful thinking on my part especially with the much improved ride quality that makes you want to push the car harder.

Wow 25k miles on a 140 tread wear tire is incredible. The PS2 is 220 tread wear rating, so in theory you should do even better. I've never managed more that 17k miles on Pilots on my previous cars.
