Hey guys, I decided on 166 wheels and will be ordering them within the next couple of weeks. I've been talking to my tire guy, he is a buddy of mine who is a manager for Discount Tire. I asked him about tires for my car and he mentioned the Pilot's and General. I'm interested in those and the Continential. He told me that any of these tires will last only 15,000 miles. I do mostly highway driving. What kind of mileage are you getting from your tires and which brand are you running? I'll be running 245/35 and 275/30x19. I did a search but didn't find much on the mileage end.

Thanks!

Honestly it is hard to ask about milege on tires... it depends on what kind of road you drive and how aggressive you are with tires...

Also treadlife, soft or hard compound can give you differnt number of mileages on them as well as weight of tires....

General is good in price but little noisy... and you get what you paid for...

PS2 and Continental is good but pricy... so there are trade off....

I recommand nitto nt555 or falken.

Stay away from Pirelli and Dunlop because it runs down really quickly...

I drive aggressively and only lasted tire for about 8000 miles...

Falken 452's will last a good time and are pretty cheap.
Your stock RFT's are going to last 10k-13k max.

Also depends on the tread wear # listed on the sidewall.....a 300AA will last a lot longer than a tire with a 140AA, like the stock rft's

I didn't know there were so many factors. I was hoping for 20k at best. Lots of smooth highway driving for me. Mostly straight lines and a few exit ramp sweepers.

Get something with atleast a 300AA tread wear like the Nitto 555's or Falken 452's as mentioned above. Here are some more...remember the higher the tread wear number the longer they'll last.

Just bear in mind your rear tires are gonna go a lot sooner then your front tires. Damn BMW and their negative camber it just eats the inside of the rear tires , my rear tires have only lasted about 10,000 miles, but the front ones look about 50% worn! It also doest help matters that you cant rotate a staggared set up, unless you want to unmount the tires.

I say +1 for the Nitto 555's. I have Falkens right now, but I noticed that the tire width of the Nitto's are about 3/4" wider then the Falkens, so you get better rim protection. I am going to replace my rear tires in the next few weeks and going to order some 555's for the rears.

This is starting to make my head hurt. I can't believe how long these skins DON'T last. I'll be replacing them twice a summer.
