I have now completed my first 5,000 kms with my new 535d.

Great car in all respects. The only inconvenient I have found so far is a rather excessive rigidity on rough surfaces. I am equipped with Dunlop Runflats, 245/40 R18 on the front and 275/35 R18 on the rear.

A few days ago I checked the inflation pressure for the first time and, much to my surprise, the front tires had a pressure in excess of 2.6 bars and the rear ones over 3.2 bars, whereas the sticker on the door post recommends - in normal loading conditions - values of 2.2 and 2.6 bars respectively.

Hence I adjusted the inflation according to the maker's advice and the car's overall comfort has materially improved. Yet I am unsure as to whether the levels indicated in the door post are actually correct for RF tires and before inquiring with the dealer as to why they gave me a car so "overinflated", I wonder if any of you guys can give me any advice.

Cheers.

I keep my tires inflated to the manufacturers recommendation. When cars are shipped from the factory, they overinflate the tires for transportation, and the dealer is supposed to adjust them as part of the pre-delivery inspection. It's the first thing I check when I get a new car home--my 545i also had over inflated tires.
