Should be taking delivery soon of 2008 550 carbon black with black interior. I would appreciate some opinions on local Long Island, NY tint shops. What I have read is ceramic, huper or Formula, any others? I don't want to dark, thinking 35% based on pix everyone has posted.

I have a great shop here on the island. This shop is in E. Northport off Jericho Turnpike. They used Llumar tint, which I had on my E39 530 Sport and loved. They even microedged all the windows for me, so there's no gap. The tint looks stock on the car and it's 35%. Oh, and I paid $160 cash (no tax). Check out my gallery of pix and you'll see how it looks. No bubbles, no fading, no nothing. Llumar is one of the top tints. Classy.

Thanks. Kinda new to tint and haven't used on prior cars. I haven't heard of Llumar, is it ceramic?

It's not ceramic. It's considered one of the best and widely used tints in the world. Most of the major high rise office buildings around the world, use Llumar on their windows. A lot of auto tint shops use Llumar. I was introduced to Llumar tint when I lived in San Francisco. A lot of the shops there, use Llumar on high end cars.

Here's why I like it:

1. 35% during the day is not dark. Even on a Jet Black car, you can still see in.
2. It holds a charcoal grey look, which is really nice, especially on a dark car. It's classy.
3. It never scratches, bubbles or fades.
4. Comes with a lifetime warranty
5. At night, the tint is dark, especially on a Jet Black car. You can't really see in. It's stealth like.

Up to you...but for $160, it's a great deal. Another place I considered for Llumar wanted close to $300. I was a referral through a friend of the owner of the shop.
