My Ride: 2005 525 Silver Gray/Black, Step, Premium, Cold, Xeon, 18" wheels
Smile

I am really getting pissed at BMW. I have a Deptember/October 04 build 525, model year 2005. I cannot play MP3's on disks I burn. I cannot get the ipod interface. Dealer is absolutely clueless. Nobody at BMW can really tell me if the ipod interface will ever work with my car, much less actually get one.

So, I thought, what a perfect excuse to trade up to a nice 530. The dealer tries to absolutely fcuk me on my 525. Insulting, offers me 28K!!!!! Kelly says worth 34K on trade. I look around, and used 525s seem to be going for 35-39K. That plus the asrasm*&^%amming on a run flat tire sent me looking elsewhere.

I started looking for sedans that have a bluetooth phone and real ipod integration, no aux ports for real men.

Today, I test drove an Acura RL. Nice, smooth car, but no BMW that is for sure. The kicker is, they offered me 34K for my trade(which is what I owe), plus discounted the hell out of the RL. The BMW guys act all insulted that 1500 is not a good discount. I can buy the RL for what I can lease a 2007 530 for. BMW pricing is getting out of control. Have you guys seen what they are charging for a 335 sedan??!??!?! 45-46K. A 3 is too small.
I have been to 3 differnt car dealers and they all offered me 33-34K for my 525.

Hell, at this point, if I could get my hands on a 525 with xeons, cold, premium and auto + ipod integration at near what I am paying for my 525 lease (617), I would jump on it. That car, stickers at 49K buy the way.

Only one BMW dealer in town (KC)

any thoughts?

OK, go to the next nearest big city (shoot.. negotiate with internet fleet mgrs. in LA, Dallas, Denver), or better, find another dealer in a smaller town (gotta be another dealer or 2 in a few hundred sqaure mile raidius) that would LOVE to sell a 5 series ...just my 2 cents <_<

Haha then I guess you gotta choose... take the low BMW trade in KC or swallow up your pride and goto STL.

Use this technique: http://www.e46fanatics.com/faq/rizzo.html

I did it using an internet FAX service and it works well. It's very easy and painless. I ended up doing business with my local dealer who beat out the others in the area by $1000. However, I think he might not have been so generous if he had not been aware that he was competing with several other dealers in Southern California.

I would let your fingers do the walking in the yellow pages and start making some phone calls.

A BMW dealer should be able to give you some hard numbers based on your 525 options and a honest opinion of the condition.

Then, you can always go back to your dealer with some competative info.

Just keep in mind, they will skew the numbers based on what you want - big dollars for your trade-in or discount on the new one. They don't deal much on the 550's but should do more on a 530. A good rule of thumb in Souther Cal when I bought my 545i is 4% over invoice.
