I had my oil and brake fluid changed at an independent shop and they claim that my tie-rods and right control arm needs to be replaced soon... cost is around $1200. Anyone get this type of job done? Can you post how much you spent?

Get the parts from Ebay.com. I got my control arms through there. So much cheaper.

$1,200 seems a bit high, but most of your expense is going to be labor (the parts should run aroung $400-$500). Also you will need an alignment as well. I'd shop around a bit, and you can probably get it done for less than $1,000.
