Really? I thought it was a full ECU flash so it had to be sent to Autowerke. If it's just a simple OBDII programmer, that's awesome.
However, they do sell some programmers that flash existing cars such as a regular 525. The mod in this thread is not an existing car. Will their programmer essentially turn a 525 ECU to a 530 and then the tuned 530? I hope I'm making myself clear and whoever you spoke with is clear on that.

Yes there are several companies out there that sell programmers that will add like 12-18hp and alter shift points an stuff like that, and Active Autowerke makes one as well. However, what they also have is know as the G5 Programmer. It is $350, then when you get it you must plug into the OBDII, download the current tuning then upload it via email to AW. Then AW will take that factory tune, revamp it, send it back and then you download it onto the programmer, then plug it into your car to get new performance tune.
Long way of doing it, but I have had to do this before on a Diesel truck. So no big deal other than the $900 spending just to AW.
Have to price out parts now, to see when I can get it done.

Katitu........I am relentless in searching. If I can't find an extremely high mileage engine on Car-Part.com, I will start looking on craigslist.org. From there I just search every city and branch out to state and then neighboring states. Try searching that way......type "e60 530 intake". I believe you can search the 330 series as well as long as it the 52 series engine.

Also, if you can find it that way........try your local salvage yards for any 530's that are totaled and since you are not wanting an engine, search for doors, deck lids, seats, consoles, etc etc...Good luck.

@ArsMan: That is not true, Euro E60 525 also has 3.0L engine starting from 03/2007, the LCi 525i's have 3.0L N53 engine.
