Hi Georgieb.
Yesterday found this topic and i'm very excited with this mod.
My car is 2006 E60 525i 218HP. Bought this car some months ago from Japan.
I looked by vin code and get production type NE51, then search with it here (BMW Model Archive · BMW E60 · Develepment Code · bmwarchive.org) and get the engine code N52B30O0. Does it mean that my car has 3.0L engine to ?
I call to off dealler, but they dont know anything about this)).
My vin is WBANE51000B980821
How can i know that my engine is 3.0L. Please help if you can.

I got the N52B30 Engine. 218 hp as said by sources. I got a 06 525ix. Iv heard that its impossible to get to 260 without a supercharger. I can see ignition coils, new cables, spark plugs, intake mainfold, exhaust, air intake filter and a tune getting you like 25 hp max (what im assuming here). Idk im not sure. All i know the N52 is a detuned version of the N series engine.

Ok, so After reading all 16 pages of threads, I still only saw this question once and really wasn't answered fully.
I am new to the Bimmer world although I own 3 of them now (2004 330xi, 2006 330xi, and 2006 525xi).
I know all my engine coding, my engine style and model, and all they wonderful specs. What was asked earlier was this..........
Can you do the 3 manifold upgrade without the tune? I understand the plugs are there for the ports, however, Will this upgrade throw codes if not re-writing a special tune on the ECU?
My Mechanic mentioned this upgrade but doesn't know anyone who has done it with or without the tune added.
Please someone let me know this, since I can not just take my car to somewhere to have a retune done on it. All on here have talked how they had to take their car to Autowerke to have it done. But is this simply another tuning company like we retune our Domestic trucks and cars, by a simple PnP OBDII and can be done in my own garage?

I think it's pointless doing the mod if the ECU is not going to be reprogrammed. The additional hardware won't be utilized if it isn't.

balbs:
This is why I ask about programming.
I have had several diesel and gas trucks that I have reprogrammed with OTC and Specialized parameter setups. Always been OBDII and I simply did the reprogram in my garage per instruction from programmer companies (Predator, Spartan, etc etc).
So this is what I am trying to find out. Is Autowerke providing a OBDII programmer that I am connecting and reprogramming or is this strictly a in house drop off only procedure?
