What rule ?
You don't need to make your gears shorter : the 535d has steptronic transmission andvery short gears, as you know : 50-90-130-190-x-y or something similar .

For LSD imho it's the same : open the differential and add the Quaife .
Ok you're the expert. I know the 535d with steptronic (because of the tranny) has shorter gearing as the 545i step has vs the 545i with smg. So it will be 2000 euros for me to right?

No, only a man with a problem with his final drive ratio :-)

Yes, automatic gearboxes have shorter gears than manual (the steptronic 545i is very faster than 545i SMG, though it has 15 BHP less at the wheels because steptronic eats +15 HP than manual)

So it will be 2000 euros for me to right?
Why 2000 euros ?
Do you need to shorten your gears ?

You need only LSD I think, then wait for Autobirds and when they will sell LSD for E60 (they already have it for E36, E46, E90) you will buy it for ?1000-1200, then install it in your differential (5-7-10 hours of works, price depend on the country where do you live) .
Less than ?2000, maybe .

emailed Kevin today nad his reply ref cost was as follows:-

Of course we are always looking for oportunities to develop LSD applications for all of the BMW cars, so the more contacts we get, the better. If someone should agree to offer their car so we can measure the dimensions, they get a LSD at a very good price!

By "good price", we'd be talking about a big discount. Retail will be ?1,160+vat installed, and special discount for people who lend us cars would bring that down to ?855+vat.

We're keen to get as much data as we can, and to be safe, I would like the car for 2 days. We will loan you a cheeky 325 touring to keep you mobile whilst this happens.

It seems like a good price, but I'm to fickle a car owner to warrant the investment - Any other takers?

No i don't need shorter gear, correct.

However if it only the lsd to intall it in the differential isn't that sort of plug&play cuz 5-10 hours of work is quite a lot umm?

Good price, but that man is too attached to money .. Only 20% ... But yes, the LSD is awesome, thus ?800 or ?1000 doesn't matter .
