Hi there. I have seen an M5 SMG Gearknob for sale and I am wondering if I can swap my Auto gearknob shifter with it.
Just wondering how the silver button on the auto gearknob would be substituted ?
Thanks guys.

Hi
I have done this mod too, but i have a few questions:
How did you manage to put the M5 centre console without shifting to P?
Can i make the DSC button to work with my existing button on center console?
Can i make the D shift to DC by pressing the power button?
Thanks

1.it's been modified by a local dealer, how? i don't really know, but the results, now i don't need to put the gear to P in order for me to take out the key...
2.my DSC button is functioning properly, it runs simultaneously with the button on the dash...(i can switch on DSC by pressing on plate or dash...except i can't do the DSC long press trick on the plate, that has to be done on dash...)
3.yes, i think this has been discussed by one of our forum members...i've actually gone through posts on this issue, but i can't find where and by whom...
*the buttons that don't work are the gearshift sensitivity button and the edc button...

Thanks for the replies guys. It looks like too much hard work !
I've decided to try and replace the shifter with the Hartge style shifter.........
Next question therefore....how hard is it to remove the existing auto gearlever. I have heard it's just a question of pulling hard on it upwards, is this true ? Is putting the new one on the same type of procedure but in reverse ?
Many thanks.
