You might want to check VF Engineering. They currently have a supercharger for the 645 at about $9K. Also, how about the R54 full engine conversion from RD Sport? Not a supercharger but increased displacement to produce about 496hp.

While at bimmerfest I asked Nick (the lead engineer at VF?), "what about 545i?" His reply was that they are still beta testing it on their 545i. There are zero 545i's with the VF supercharger at the moment excluding their own. They will be releasing this August with Evosport.

Later, I went over to Eurobahn/Singh Motorsport. I guess I spoke with "Singh" himself. He mentioned that it would not be a good idea to slap supercharger on 4.4 engine. Would decrease the engine life significantly. He also mentioned that the supercharger is better suited for the 4.8 engine. I guess I should take what he says with a grain of salt? Well, I will not be putting a supercharger in any time soon. I'll wait for all the guinea pigs to put theirs on first

Money is not an issue.

Then tell him to buy an M6. Even if you ignore the engine, it's worth it for the steering alone.

He already owns the vehicle, and please understand, I AGREE M6 IS THE BETTER CHOICE, but the choice is not mine. I'm just looking for some info for a buddy. It would be kind of cool to see how it would turn out

I could be mistaken, but I believe VF has a supercharger ready to go for the 4.4L motor in the 645, hence, their testing on the 545 shouldn't turn up any major problems.

I think any aftermarket system that turns a normally aspirated engine into a forced induction one decreases the engine life significantly.

You are not mistaken. There is a supercharger ready for the 645i. I saw it on their brochure. I was just conveying what another vendor commented about the VF supercharger, 4.4, and 545i together. Like I said in my previous post, I'll take his comments with a grain of salt. I think he's trying to get me to go with the ECU remap. Well, he didn't have to sell me b/c I already am planning on doing so next month or June. Now, who to go with: Eurorev, Eurobahn, or Upsolute?

I am in agreement that a supercharger will definitely decrease the life span of any engine whether it be the 4.4 or 4.8. But, all that power... is seductive.
