My Ride: Oct 2005 530d limousine, Silver Grey, Steptronic, Black Dakota leather, 17" Star Spoke style 138 wheels with Bridgestone Potenza 050A, extended air conditioning, M sports steering wheel, PDC, Xenon, ProSat Nav, Cruise Control, iDrive 19.02

I would like to hear your opinion for selecting summer tires from this list in dimension Front: 245/40X18 and rear: 275/35X18 monted on the Star Spoke 124 rims.
Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Goodyear F1 GSD-3
All tires are normal (and I don't even consider RFT)
Personally, I would go for Goodyear F1, but would like to hear from other experienced members what would be your choice?
In terms of price for a set, Michelin is 15% and Goodyear 7% more expensive than Bridgestone.

I haven't experienced the others but am ecstatic about my Pilot Sports. I have 19" rims, but I doubt the change in rim size is what has changed my car so much. The ride and feeling of control with the PS2 is incredible compared to the almost Buick-like steering feel I had with the Bridgestone runflats.

I have the Goodyears. They are good, but somehow I wish the PS2's came in my size.
No logic, just a feeling that the PS2's would give a 'tighter' feel to the steering.

I really wanted the Goodyear's but I read somehwere on a forum, a long time ago now, that some people had balancing and vibration issues with that tire and the 5 series. That could be all wrong but I've converted to be a PS2 fan after reading so many positive posts about them. I just hope the treadwear is 'ok' for these tires, perhaps atleast 20,000 miles.

Great question.
But do not keep the Continental SportContact2's out.
I'm between GY's and Conties in the size 245/40 18" (absolutely non RF's).
My criterias are comfort, silence and on top of all - non tramlinging!

I wanted Bridge re50, then Contis, and when I ordered BMW changed policy and came GY nsc 1 rft no issues, no noise nothing. But I am looking for 20"s and will go w Hankook Ventus S1 Evo-if I can get another fast when there is a prob, otherwise just Conti SportCont 2!
PS2 are cool, but wear faster than others.

This site has pretty much all the information you will need: tests, specs, reviews etc.
Personally i'm going down the route of GY F1 GSD3 - but i dont think that theres much between all the tyres you list and the cont CS2's.
I was intersted to read that in some markets you can replace the tyres if you dont like them. I wish that applied over hear in the UK - or can someone point me in the right direction.

I like my NCT5s ut do not belive that the "V" shape lammels are better than the parallel for fighting aquaplaninng.
