Hi all.

Having sourced a full set of 166 wheels (after 3 moths of searching), I will soon be replacing them with my 18" 135 style (shod with run flats). So I will now be needing an emergency (spare) wheel.

Having checked the extortionate prices of the OEM 17" space saver rim, together with the odd sized tyre, I am considering a cheaper option for a spare wheel.

Can I get a cheap 16" or 17" full size E60 wheel (probably off of Ebay), and just use this as my spare wheel. Do I need to make sure I get the correct rim width to ensure it can fit both front and rear (in other words get the less wide front wheel, where applicable).

I know it won't fit in the wheel well, but as I say, I have an empty boot.

All comments welcome.

I know I'll have to source a jack and wrench from somewhere, but that's small change compared to the rim/tyre itself.

Thanks guys.

a full size 17" wheel will fit in the wheel well but will not be flush with the floor. If you can put up with that then go for it. Instead Look out for 17" spares on ebay.
