Smile Successful e60 CIC Retrofit with Bimmer retrofit

I have BMW e60 523I LCI MY 2008, it was not equipped with navigation system and it just had CD M-ASK drive and CD changer.

I ordered my CIC retrofit kit from Bimmer retrofit Canada, the kit consist of:

- 8,8" High Resolution Monitor CID

- CiC Navigation and Entertainment Computer with built-in 80GB HDD Head Unit

- HD CID Display Cable

- USB Socket

- USB Connecting Cable

- Navigation, Voice and Video in Motion systems activation (Hardware based)

- Latest maps of the arabian gulf

- New style iDrive Controller with the plastic bezel

I gave them my VIN number to code the CIC unite for my car, and I received the kit .

** I did the installation my self and really it was easy and as they said plug and play

after I connected the screen and CIC head unit, and turned on the car, it was working correctly except for the voice commands which was not working

as per their advice I add the VO number of the CIC and changed the MY year to be 0909
and guess what? every thing is working perfectly and maps are great.

I did one thing crazy, as I didn`t have navigation before I had to install the GPS antenna in the shark tale, but I didn`t feel that i can do it as it requires a lot of wiring and removing parts, so what I did is, I placed the GPS antenna directly on the CID and moved the wire from back of the screen and guess what, it is working great

My experience with Bimmer Retrofit is great as the CIC kit is in very good condition and their support is really wonderful, i recommend them to any one want to do retrofit for his BMW

I am getting more and more tempted by this, since I will have my 550 for a few years to come it is worth the investment.

PM member Patrys. His store is www.bimmer-tech.net.

That's where I got mine from. He'll also do the coding for your car remotely all the way from Poland.

if you are planning on keeping your car for 3 years or so, the retrofit is well worth it. The CCC is now showing its age, unless you are a Spectrum or Atari fan.

But get the combox with the CIC, otherwise its not worth it.
