yup, there are 2 6" subs. there is also a high pass filter signal to the subs and control by front amp. the cut off is at about 100hz.

there are no tweeter in the A column. but just a 4" full range driver on the door panel.

changing the speakers of course will improve the sound system tremendously.

for L7, DO NOT touch the drivers, it will cause alot of distortion because the Harmon Kardon amp will not be able to drive the speakers. thus distortion.
L7 is tuned to phase the all speakers to produce ambience. changing the speakers will distort the whole set up.

You are right. I checked and found the speakers under the front seats with 2 woofer ports. So I presume my 6 speakers are : 2 in the side door, 2 in the rear parcel shelf and the 2 under the front seat. I get decent bass if I push up the bass settings in the tone controls, and pump up the volume a little.

Eugeneloke, will you be adding tweeters to the A pillar too ? Or adding a 6 in to the front door? (I think someone else in the E60 Singaporeans thread did that)

Is your new amp just driving the subs or do they drive all the other speakers as well ? DO you have one 12 in JBL sub or 2?

Must meet up with you to have a listen to your set up.

putting in a 3rd party subwoofer in the trunk today with an additional amp. dealer says "100% sure" - also putting in a voltage stabiliser

Can you take a picture of your new subwoofer in the car?

TIA.

i have just 1 amp driving 1 sub. no need for tweeters imo 'cos the stock HIFI setup already quite bright.
