maybe your valve opens up for such a low amount

my valve opens only at 10,000

Another vote for Remus. It has that deep growl that I love, especially with V-8

I also had Dinan exhaust at one point but Remus gets my vote.

How bout removing the odd block shape resonator before the stock cans? Has anybody done this? I miss my RPI exhaust, but it was very aggressive sounding. Music to my ears, but far from subtle.

I have the RPI on my 2004 545i. I love it, but it is not tame. It sounds great, but can be a bit loud (especially for back seat passengers). I don't think it is what you are looking for. A video of it post install is on Youtube.

Personally, I like my B&B with a resonance cone, which makes it a BIT more subtle!
