Hi Guys,

I have a 12 inch Kick Sub and a 4 Channel Kicker Amp (KX300.4)
Kicker KX300.4

I want to install it in my boot, will cut a ski port.

I have done some research on would like some confirmation and advice.

Can I tap into the remote wire to turn the amp on when I start the car?

Can I tap into the signal wire to get the signal for the bass?

Is there an easy way to connect the amp to the current system without going tot he head unit. ie just using the amp etc in the boot.

Regards

Search amp install there is a very good tutorial on it, actually several. Connected like they recommend allows the amp to come on with the car and controlled by the unit, works great! I have a 10" sub and a small amp installed in mine and did not cut the ski passage out. There are some who have but I was only looking for a nice enhancement and not to blow my neighbors windows out. The improvement from what I have was incredible, I can't image what it would sound like and feel like with the passage removed.

it all depends on how much current is drawn by your amps remote sense. See my DIY.

There is minimal cost involved here as compared to a 80.00 harness. Do what you feel best with but IMOP tapping those wires is pretty safe.

I'm currently using this harness. For me...spending the 80 bucks was worth the 5 minute sub installation.

I literally just finished installing 2 subs and an amp myself. I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff but this really helped me. https://5series.net/forums/topic/116...market-subamp/
