I have 172's and love them, but do not love my tires. I have 275/30/19 Continental Sport Contact 2's. The ride is a bit noisy and rough, especially compared to the loaner that I have right now. I know this is partly due to the 19's, but I think is mostly due to the 30 series tires which is a very small sidewall. I'm told that I can't go any bigger on the sidewall because they won't fit since I already have big wheels.
What tires do you have on these wheels and what are your thoughts?

I don't have 172s. But the tire sizes on my 167s are compatible to 172s (see my sig.) I have Vredestein and they are great tires and quiet. They perform very in both dry and wet conditions. Check them out.

Get the Michelin PS2s -- the top rated summer performance tire.
Hankooks, Falkens, General Exclaims for performance at a good price

I don't think that any equal the PS2's wet weather performance. Some General Exclaims owners have told me that the tire is not great in the wet.
