I finally installed winter tires after being caught twice already this year (Global warming is freezing us out!). Anyway I weighed everything for you geeks like me that might be interested.

Turns out there's not that much difference. My OEM 166s with Michelen PS2s (only about 30% tread remaining) are 245/40-19 in front and they weighed 50.5 and 53.0 pounds all up including TPMS and air. The rep style 101Ms weighed 56.0 pounds all up brand new with 11/32nd tread.

The rear OEM 166s with 285/35-19 PS2s weighed 53.0 (both) all up. The reps weighed 53.0 since I didn't stagger the winter set.

I can't explain the 2.5lb difference in the passenger side front OEM. The tire has not been plugged, nor were the rims dirty and they even had equivalent balance weights as far as I could tell.

I should have weighed my 124s with Bridestone RFTs- they seemed to weigh a ton! Has anyone weighed their sets?

But anyway I'm happy that I've only added a little more unsprung weight with the savings in the rim cost of rep vs. OEM. I bought these from Wheels and Caps (I have no connection there) but you can also find them at Lakeshore Tires and other good places for a fraction of OEM. They are made in Italy and have all the proper ratings institutes worldwide and the quality super and they take all stock parts (bolts, TPMS, center caps, roundels, etc).

So I am pleased.

For what it's worth.

Looks great and hopefully the quality is as good as it says on the label

What offsets (ET) do they have -- the rear rim appears to sit quite deep in the rear arch or is that just the angle of the pic?

The offset is 20mm front and rear and I do think they're in a little too much but maybe it's because I'm used to looking at the staggered 166s with 285/35 vs these winter tires which are just 225/40-19. I'm thinking of putting a 15-20 mm spacer in there- these rims are 72.56mm hub centric so require no additional hardware - which I like so I hate to add spacers. Plus- it's just for teh winter tires and I checked out a 530i in teh neighborhood and these wheels are at an identical position to his. Great wheels for $499 including shipping though- ride perfectly at 85+ (so far).

We'll see-

Good to know. Those blue calipers look nice with your car's paint and the hub roundels.

We'll see-
ET20 is the standard non-staggered wheel offset for the E60 OEM rims, so an excellent match.
On my first E60 I was running 245/18s all round with ET20 and thought it looked great. Its like you wrote above, after running a wide staggered set-up and seeing all the pics here, you get used to them sitting further out in the arch, when in fact they look fine as they are. (In case you do look into spacers, I have had 15mm spacers on my previous E61 and current E60 without any issues -- I went for H&R as recommended by my BMW dealer.)
Awesome price -- just what you need for your winter wheels!
