I have to add one more thing...
I see that wolf hasn't listed his location in his profile but I have to wonder how someone who owns a multi-stage snowblower (which implies that they live in an area prone to snowfall) doesn't think that snow tires would be immediately needed on a rear-wheel drive car...![Whistling](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/whistling.gif)

I am in Northern Va, just outside washington DC. It is really hit or miss here. Some winters we have nearly no snow, and then others we can get a few storms. However, it is nothing like the "real" north east (i.e. New York, Boston, etc.)

For those that have separate snow tire/wheel set ups, what size wheels did you use? Did you say with your factory sizing (18''+) or did you go smaller?
Or....do you simply have another set of tires that you put on your normal rims? Given I have run flat this poses a bit of a dilemma. If I get an extra wheel/tire combo there is the issue of the spare. If I stay with run flat I might as well put them on my current rims. However, I think they tend to be much more expensive.
I am curious what others have done....

I wanted the same look, so got 4 166 more with 4 19" snow tyres on them.
With the car empty and slopes, you have to drive slowly. Not much grip.
But with 4 people onboard, skis on the roof, luggages in the trunk... + 500 Kg.. It is very good also with /275 tyres.

Went upstate to Liberty Paintball yesterday. Got stuck for a bit going up hill . Rolling on summer wheels and tires.
None of us pictured there was that much snow from Saturday. We backed up, got some distance and gunned it up the hill.

My problem is solved
A guy at my office sold his 550 last year and got an M3. I heard he still had his winter wheel/tires. I purchased them from him this evening. They were 17'' style 144 and the tires still had plenty of tread on them. Also they are NOT runflat so I am looking forward to seeing how the ride improves without the runflat tires...... I'll be hooked up by this weekend!
