Hi guys
just curious to see if anyone would know the aprox labor time or maybe a reasonable price for installing 2 shocks and 2 struts .. as the other day was quoted for $720 at a firestone center @96/hr.. and like $800. at another dealer..

thanks

I paid $300 and the alignment was included.

I had springs, 2 shocks and 2 struts installed PLUS alignment.

It was from A&L Auto Body in Palatine, IL.

You can tell that dealer to go pound sand up their ass. Thats a rip. P.S. - Dealerships rip you off.

thanks for the info, yeah man they wanted like$1,200 for 1 strut and the labor, so I bought a set of bilsteins for $577.00 on the net, now I just need installation.. I got a quote from a firestone auto center. and the guy was charging me like $720. so I ask him how much was the labor, he said $96/hr .. so probably he was thinking of doing one shock and then go to lunch come back, take a nap, do another, take a brake and do the other next day..

I paid $600 including alignment at my dealership and thats in CAD dollars so those prices you got quoted are definitely way too high.

Usually about 3-4 hours labor + alignment is a safe bet. So figure $300-$400 for labor and $150-$180 for a proper Hunter laser guided alignment.

I ended up having it done twice -- all 4 corners for springs / struts (don't ask...). First was $300 w/o alignmnet (but it was obvious he was not experienced and took almost 5 hours). Next time with a more experienced shop took about 3 hours and charged $300 including an alignment (Hunter equipment but not new laser stuff). He gave me a pretty good deal, otherwise may have been closer to $400.

X2. Max would be $450 for the installation. Anything higher, your getting jacked.

man yeah I know it is a ripoff, but what is wrong with this guys, probably they think because you drive a nice car, you can afford to pay what ever they think.

Print out this thread and show it to them. Then let them bow their heads in disgrace. That's what I'd do. =)
