Does the paddle shifter operate the same way as the BMW paddle shifter? For example, if you want to upshift, you would squeeze with your fingers toward the steering wheel. For downshifting, you would use your thumb and push the paddle. That is how the 335i shifter works.
Also, one could use either side of the shifter?
