I know I'm mentally challenged, but

How is driving in D with sprintbooster different from driving in DS mode?
People say:
D + sprintbooster = no lag, faster shifts
DS mode = no lag, faster shifts
Maybe we all have a sprintbooster installed and accessed in DS mode.

Haven't been able to install mine as car is in service for a while.
Just wondering out loud.
Thanks for any input.
D + SB = no lag, quicker shifts, but gearing is still conservative (you'll be at about 65 mph @ 2000 rpm)
DS mode + SB = no lag, much quicker shifts, with aggressive gearing (at 65 mph, you'll be over 2000 rpm)

Basically, SB enhances the throttle responsiveness as opposed to the gear shifting (which is more related to being in either D or DS mode). Instead of that normal 1-2 second lag when you step on the pedal, that lag is noticeably gone with SB installed.

Are all the sprint bossters the same?

I mean, does the, for example 550i sprint booster the same for the 530i?

Or the 535d for the 535i?

Or do you have a sprint booster for each type of car/motor?

The SB works for all models of BMW 2002-current. There are however two models of SB for our BMW, one for Automatic and one for Manual Transmissions. Most people are suggesting the Automatic model as it is less aggressive ("jerky") than the Manual. I have the Automatic and love it.

I purchased from Andy Wong (HK guy) and installed mine last Sunday, 4/13/08. No error codes or warning messages popped up at all. No issues that kwang or other members described during the install. One thing to consider, make sure the pins aren't bent and match up the numbers inside the SB housing with the accelerator housing.

My mpg has gone down from 23.3 to 22.8 so far. I know that it'll go down some more in the days/weeks/months to come.
i too have a '08 535i and was a bit hesitant on error msg's and what not.

how easy was the install? if i understand correctly, it installs just above the gas pedal? plug and play?

kindly advise.

tia

you need to undo a screw which is on the floor for the peddle, then just take it out and you will see a plug and the SB just fit between the plug.
have fun
