how important is ride comfort to you? IIRC race is lower but always softer/harsher ride..I'm sure other members chime in as my experience is brief at best with the springs and most is what others suggest..we've got a few good vendors on here that could help you with this decision as well...

I will suggest that if you have to swap the shocks as well you might just want to consider coilovers, so the ride height can be adjusted to your liking...

I have 33k on the car...
Also the only springs I could find for awd through HR drops front 1.4 and rear 1.3.

is this normal? Is this a good amount so fender is close to the tire?

is your car a sport package E60? measurements are taken off of a standard model. sport package E60s are about 0.7" lower than standard models. if you have a sport package and H&R drops 1.4" front and 1.3" rear on a standard, it would drop your E60 about 0.7" front and 0.6" rear actually.

You should not need shocks at 33k. I replaced mine at 100k and would state they lost about 30 - 40% of their rebound response.

Regarding springs, they need a precise alignment on the strut bases as the strut mounts are ball bearing and its critical to getting their positioning correct or rapid wear will result on these ball bearing mounts.

If you pull a wheel, you'll note that the strut coil spring base has a notch and the springs them selves have three painted dots. You must be certain to maintain this alignment when replacing the springs and or struts.

I'm not sure how you would maintain this alignment with aftermarket unless the springs are duplicate configurations and markings.
