I'm a newbie to the forum. I have a leased e60 520d from 07/08 and getting an e61 535d from 11/07 next week. Already thinking of chiptuning and transmission mods; in particular I regret it doesn't come with the sports automatic as I'd like to have the flappy paddles on the steering wheel. Does anyone have experience with modification of a stock automatic to get flappy paddles?

I've seen a couple of threads on here on the subject - I'm sure you won't come up empty if you search a little bit through DIY and Parts, Accessories and Mods sections

Right you are, I believe this is the authorative thread on the subject; I'll contact my dealer for the parts now https://5series.net/forums/topic/550...525d+MSport%5c

Great to know it can be done

Just a heads up that I don't think anyone has yet been able to get the paddles to work on an LCI model. The addition of the SAT shift box and sport button is well documented, but not the paddles.

I will post an update in the next week or two (waiting on final parts) if we are able to make this work. My goal was to retrofit a heated m-sport wheel with SAT paddles in my 2008 550i - so far we have the steering wheel in and heated (a blessing when the winters here get to -40c) but are waiting on the shift box parts from Germany and coding to complete the retrofit.
