Default SAT Install

Considering the SAT was not a factory option for the 528i (08' Production):

Will the installation of the hardware for the SAT "retrofit" function as the stock gearshift?

Can the SAT functions be programmed later on via VO,Kombi,EGS?

I appreciate the help.

Once installed it will just function without any coding, however, using the sports button before coding everything will result in pretty heavy steering.

The coding can be done later as well.

Default SAT Coding

Thank you for the response.

In addition to the hardware install, there must obviously be coding done using the NCS Expert programming.

I have read all 60+ pages of this thread as well as NoQuarters pages.

My specific question is in regards to the paddle shifters (I do NOT wish to install):

There is mention to the "WERT_00" or "WERT_01" files somewhere in the NCS Expert programming on the EGS module. This file needs to be changed so that the paddle shifters do not throw a code and force the driver out of manual mode.

Are you able to explain this step?

Cheers,

Bill K.

Question on the tranmission flash piece for a sport tranmission--I am told that the transmission is different between the XI and the I , which makes sense since the extra differential connects to the tranny. Does anyone have the flash #, is it 7603541 or #4601458?

Changing the value of paddles in egs using ncsexpert is only needed if you do not have a steering with paddles or did not do the wiring to ebox and ground from the szl but changed the vo for sat. Once you change the vo by removing 205 and adding 2tb and code egs it will enable paddles, and when it is enabled if you try to put your car to ds it will revert back. So if you only do hardware install either for the steering or shifter or both it is not going to cause any problem.

So if you only change the shifter you should code only kombi and if i remember correctly kgm with default/empty man file to have the right steering assist with proper vo and sports ob the cluster, but, do not write the vo/fa to cas or lma. This will ensure that any future programming done by bmw will not break anything you just have to recode to get everything back.

NoQuarter I believe installed this on his xi model. Try reading page 3 on. This may help.

@ linkhan_s

I do not want the paddle shifters, nor do I have them installed.

I wish to get the full SAT functionality, just without the paddle shifters.

Once the hardware is installed i would need to:

1) Code the VO, from 205 to 2TB

2) Code the Kombi, to see the "Sport" display

3) Code the EGS to get the true sport functionality

4) Code the EGS to disable the paddles <------ How is this done (step by step, please)

Steps 1-4 are only if I want the true sport functions, not just 90%....
