My Ride: 2006 530i, Jet Black, Tan, Premium, Steptronic
Hi, guys, I am a long-time reader and a first-time poster.
I've been feverishly researching how to add an iPod adapter kit to my car. I really like the looks and pricing of the Denison GW500.
I have a 2006 530i with a single-CD player that does not have MP3 capabilities. (Why would a $50,000 car built in 2006 not be able to play MP3's when the Ford Focus can? Another topic...) I think this means that I have M-ASK. (What does that stand for, BTW?) I've read the service bulletin that BMW sent out that upgrades CD players to have mp3 capabilities, but the service bulleting refers to cars have the CCC. Has anyone been successful in getting the M-ASK CD player upgraded?
If I want to add a CD-changer, how do I know if it is mp3 capable? Does anyone have a part number? Will this changer work for me-

I've read in another thread that the GW500 will give me text display on my iDrive by having the dealer activate the iPod adapter option. That sounds great to me. Will the USB features work as well?
Thanks for the help.

Seems your only option would be the IPOD kit, The Dension probably won't work with your car since u have the MASK system. Dension can be used with CCC system only.

Actually if you mean by M-ASK as non-NAV and CCC being NAV equip car then I got mine non-NAV system working w/ Dension GW500 no problem as so does (AFAIK at least) member kekkos...

I'd say skip the CDC addition and go w/ GW500... that's what I did... I don't have NAV but my CD play MP3... and the USB feature is really great. I did my own install on the GW500 and took the car to the dealer and told them to enable iPod retrofit programming and all good
