Today i've got myself a set of 135 style wheels. Unfortunately, although i kept repeating to my mind to check the inside of the rim for the BMW stamp, i forgot to do it and asked for to garage to mount the tyres. All ok but i've noticed something abit strange afterwards : All bmw wheels i've seen up till now have the number 13 stamped upfront. One of the wheels had only the digit 1 (see pic).

I may got abit paranoid after that and starting to think that these arre actually abit heavier that the other set i had. Mind you, the other set had some PS2 on while these have the NCT5 runflats.

They weight 25-25kg each including the tyres.

Is there any way to check if they're fakes or not ? The garage i got it from is quite reputable but now i've got the suspicion stuck into my mind ...

I'm not sure if the number on front always is an indicator. Although, all four of my staggered 124s have "8" stamped on front. For sure you could tell by pulling the wheel, but that's obvious, I guess. GL.

Hi,
you don't have to be paranoid with your rims - these are 135 ers, take a look on the inside, there you can find the Art. No. or the component supplier (3 of my Alpinas for Example are from "borbet", 1 is from "ronal")- your dealer can check this also...
The Number on the outside maybe a code for different component supplier or something...

Old thread, continuing quagmire. How to tell if it's the real deal or a replica?

If there's a bmw stamp I guess it's a good thing. A part number would be nice too, not sure if the wheels come with that?

I've seen wheels sold 2nd hand in a size I don't believe bmw ever sold; that particularly goes for m5 wheels that suddenly come with ET that suits a regular e60 and also in different diameters, eg 18" or 20" instead of the original's 19". Here I've checked against http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ for original availibility but if not 100% updated then perhaps not a surefire test.

Do you know of a litmus test, other than buying new at your local bmw dealer?
