Thumbs down

So I finally got around to getting some Gtech Pro SS runs in with my 535i with JB3 1.0 and BMS Single intake. I am also running 19" General Exclaims. Temp for the runs is 63F with 81% Humidity and I am in Miami, FL. Runs as follow: 4.87 , 4.78, 4.75, 4.79 all runs with 2.1 - 2.2 60 ft.

The car is breaking loose BIG TIME through second gear which is killing my times. I need to learn how to control that better as I am just mashing the pedal in "DS". Also, I am running DSC limited, DTC ON.

Can't wait to try out the newer JB3 1.2...though my goal with this car was to just break 5 seconds 0-60...dayum, that was easy...I knew the car "felt" FAST but this is crazy. I am very happy to say the least.

For reference, the best 0-60 time in stock form I could achieve was 5.3, on the same test track with car bone stock including run flats. The car currently has JB3 1.0, BMS Single intake, and 19" wheels with General Exclaims 245/35/19 & 275/30/19.

Nice times mate

I have a Gtech Pro RR, how do you find the horsepower estimation for your car ?

The standing quarter, 0-60 etc feel pretty accurate but the horsepower and torque estimates seem waaaaaaaaaaaaay off, I guess it could be because my car is Diesel, even tho Gtech claim they work fine with Diesels ??

I make 0-60 in 6.7sec and a standing quarter in 15.01, that was in the wet with lots of wheelspin tho , not had the change to try it properly in the dry because the weather has been so lousy here since I got the car a month ago.

Fwiw my car weights 1740kg with a quarter of a tank of fuel and me inside it lol, whats yours, im guessing you know as its so important for the Gtech's ?

Oh, wow, you did 0.2-0.3s better than a 545i.

Unfortunately your car has 578487549% more possibilities to break the engine compared to us V8 users.

Edit: and you cannot supercharge it as we all will do

The reason why you are losing so much traction is because you need better tires. Generals are cheap, standard tires but they're not really on the performance category. If you want to improve your time/traction, it'd be best to go with Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 or Michelin PS2. If you're looking for slightly cheaper ones get Nitto Invo or Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. This should help you shave off time and give you a better grip to launch faster.

Exactly the problem I have with these run flat goodyears........just no traction in the first 3 gears even with TC enabled, sucks the time right out of the sprint and quarter mile runs.

Doing a full manual start with no TC doesn't help my situation much either, and im pretty good with the throttle in these situations, too much torque vs grip lol.

Phantom Mark, yeah the HP and TQ values are pretty much useless because the RPM pickup does not work properly in our cars. I just disregard the hp and tq like most others with gtech. 0-60 and 1/4 does not use/need those values anyway and the gtech's have proven to be very accurate and consistent as seen with simultaneous runs of gtech vs vbox and actual 1/4 mile slips at the track. I don't have room to do 1/4 mile runs so I settle for 0-60 which is fine by me.

AlexFW, this is not my first "tuned", boosted, (or whatever else it is called these days) turbocharged vehicle. Since 1998 I have owned several turbo VW's and Audi's all with double or more boost than factory and logged 10's of thousands of miles without a single incident. My 535i has over 12k miles now with JB3 and not a single issue so while you "think" it might break something I will continue to drive on the road to and fro (very fast) without any problems

aznunknownx, I agree...the tires are definitely the problem at this point. But I wanted to run an inexpensive tire daily. I have run Generals in the past and they are great for daily driving, last a long time, and are cheap I will likely get a set of wheels to run DR's when I have a chance. This will make a massive difference because I am losing all traction and still pulled all these runs back to back...imagine on good tires.

alpha, yeah I know I def need to mess around with it some. I am holding the brake till about 1100 rpm in DS mode with dtc pressed once...then I just gun it. I have massive traction loss through second so I know I can do much better. I need to try a couple different ways to see what works best but under 5 sec repeatedly just mashing her in DS is pretty amazing I think
