I'm looking to smoke out my tail lights (red part) what is the best way to do this. I have heard about using film, paint or a spray. what would work best?

I went with film. Haven't put it on yet, but will give it a try when I get it. Got it from here:

I plan on tinting on the rear turn signals red. Not sure how it will turn out though but just another mod to try and is the reason I selected film, just in case it looks bad. :)

I used Lamin-x tint overlays. I opted to do the whole light, signal and all. On Black it looks perfect. I have some pics somewhere that I can upload later. I like the Lamin-x because I can take it off if I do have a problem. I had it on my old e36 for my french fogs, and it held up great.

I used film as well. All you need is a hairdryer or heat gun and patience. I did my tails, bumper and fender reflectors, side turn signals. Pretty happy with the results. I just bought some film off ebay.

Did the ebay film as well, only 7$ Ebay item

Just put it on the whole tail light and then cut free the white area of the blinker and reverse light.
Result came out pretty nice.

Yes and a hairdryer helps a lot.
Just take it slow, the first one is the hardest.

local tint shop quoted me $100 to do just the red area of the rear tail lights, might just do it myself.

you can definitely do it yourself and save the $100. It's definitely easier with another set of hands to help you. Someone to heat the area while you wrap. The curved part of the tail where it dips was the hardest.

i've got some pics of the tails I did plus reflectors and side turn signals (or whatever they are called). I did them cause I had enough leftover to go ahead and wrap them https://5series.net/forums/topic/121...-new-roundels/
