Hey gang,

Recently decided to take the plunge and get Sirius installed. I've got the pre-wire, so should be a simple deal right? Well, I called every dealer in the Houston area and got the same story -- they are out of Sirius units, the units have been backordered for weeks. Something about BMW switching manufacturers of the units and running behind schedule on production. The dealers have no idea when they will get new units.

Anyone else heard about this?

Interesting, had not heard this. Just got mine installed back in late January and they had the units in stock.

The Sirius unit was installed on my E60 last June after a wait of more than six months. The dealer told me the delay was due to software issues in integrating Sirius into iDrive. It was worth the wait, though. Having Sirius as a part of the sound system/iDrive is absolutely wonderful!

Bakersdozen, I hope that you get Sirius installed soon and that you enjoy it as much as I do.

Thanks for the feedback beemerjim and ragin. I'll hang in there and hopefully it won't drag on for too many weeks.

560 sounds like a lot. Is it a vendor change or is it just simply that people realize they can get it retrofited, or that SIRIUS is catching on through their marketing efforts? I use it alot and its hard for me even to switch to CDs now.

Call my dealer to inquire, said about 6-8 weeks. I asked if they could get the unit from another dealer, 1 week later they got it.....Had it installed.

It's great.....Worth the wait, only wish we had preset buttons
