theXman's question was " you point it?" was very incitful. Thanks to members such as MrFVA, who just posted a link to a site where one can input various tire and wheel sizes and obtain comparisons, for the helpful references. In my case, I was never provided any difinitive documentation that the set I was purchasing was equivalent to my factory set. I was only told it was not going to be a problem. Thus, I was able to confirm, for myself, that the new set was nearly identical to the factory set. Although there are few who know as much as theXman, on this site, I was trying to be helpful to members in providing confirmation of the equivalency.

Sorry theXman. I will never do that again. I'll be much better at never posting unless I have a very powerful point to make. Hehehe.
So you Sir cum sized your wheels? Ouch!

I'm sure the links Frank gave you were a help but I don't know if it explains what the numbers actually mean

245 is the width 40 is the ratio of the sidewall to the width of the tire = 98 mm sidewall. therefore 225 50 17 gives you about 112 mm sidewall. Difference between the two tire sizes = 14mm = 0.55 inches x 2 (for amount of sidewall) totals 1.1 inch. You have about an extra 1 inch of sidewall on the winter tires to compensate for the smaller wheel size. As I'm sure you know the diameter is related to circumference.

After you read a lot of the posts you see the same questions, so I guess to some its almost like you said 2+ 2 = 4 and 3 + 1 = 4 I had no cluewhat any of these number meant until I came on here....rather too much...

When you see some of the things others post on here don't let this stop you posting

Here's the tire-calc he's referring to: http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/info_specs.jsp

It has an offset feature as well, but it's partially hidden on the FF browser.
You can still tab (or click on it) and select offset values.

"Incitful". Is that a real word?

No need to apologize, bro. The reason I made that statement was because I wasn't sure if you were asking us a question or just making an observation.

Anyway, I don't know anything at all and constantly ask pointless questions in here. So, you should do the same and often.
