How did you get the M kit without the steering wheel they are part of the package? Was the kit put on aftermarket?

Aboslutely no - $2.5k for the sport wheel which is a $250 option when new is nuts. Don't do it out of principle.

The sport wheel is a better wheel than standard but I do not like the slight textured finish and how hard it is - it is slippery IMO.

The smooth, softer finish on the 3 sport wheel is far better.
yes it is slippery after 2 years drive and now my needs a new soft leather, I will take it to the local leather shop to redo it.

Thanks for your input guys. I've decided not to do it due to the possibility of me ordering the new M3 soon

I like my wheel better. Looks exactly like the M wheel, except it has the nice aluminum trim and doesn't have the M badge on it (I don't think.) But is it still the M wheel, though? Forgive my ignorance about my own car. I didn't even notice until this past Saturday that my wheels have the M badge on them. I just like the car. I haven't drunk the BMW Koolaid. Yet.

I got a quote yesterday from a BMW dealer in London to replace the SE multifunction wheel with a Sport multifunction wheel.
The wheel itself is ?370 (including VAT) BUT the airbag module is another ?540 on top! Plus an hour's labour for fitting. So basically you're talking ?1,000 (USD 2,000).

I can probably get a wheel cheaper from Ebay but the problem is the airbag as they don't usually come with one (and I'm not sure I'd want to buy a secondhand one anyway).
Very frustrating as it's just not worth it.

Does anyone else (AC Schnitzer, Hartge etc) do replacement steering wheels?

I got both of my from ebay which was half the price from the dealer.
When I got the airbag it was ship by air I did not know. I thort he would ship it by ground.

Attachment 40370

If you dont what to spend too much get it on ebay look out for 2nd hand 1s. BUT ask what year is the wheel from cos 06 will not fit 04 cars.
That's the sports wheel, not M-Sport...
