If I have a 2006 with the old heated sport wheel and buy the LCI wheel with airbag, will everything connect in my 2006 and operate ok?

Has anyone done this before?

If you have the Heated Wheel then its thick enough. Depends what you call "worth it". Personally I wouldn't bother, I love my Heated Wheel too much to loose that feature for a wheel with a fancy M on it.

I want to change my SE wheel on my 2004 E61 for a M Sport wheel but will only do it if I can do it at reasonable cost (which being in the UK usually isn't an option!).
I've seen heated M Sport steering wheels for sale on Ebay.de but these don't include an airbag. Does the airbag include the centre of the wheel and how much would I be looking at to get one? Is the only option to get the airbag from a BMW dealer? My current wheel obviously has an airbag so can I use this? Will a heated wheel work on a car that didn't have it factory fitted (how do you turn it on?)?
Any help would be much appreciated.

AUD 2,500? Holy crap! I was thinking about doing this in my 535i (the sport wheel is too big for me), but it sure ain't worth that much! Wow.

Get it. I love the Sport steering wheels in BMW. I had it in my E39 and now in my E60. I'll never go without it...but then again, I'll never not get the Sport Package either.

However, if you really want, you should see about getting this steering wheel instead.

I wish I have the M-sport style steering wheel, but I can't justify the cost to replace the standard steering wheel that is not broken.

Do you know you can buy a lot of things with AUD 2,500. How much is it in US dollars??

I got both of my from ebay which was half the price from the dealer.
When I got the airbag it was ship by air I did not know. I thort he would ship it by ground.

If you dont what to spend too much get it on ebay look out for 2nd hand 1s. BUT ask what year is the wheel from cos 06 will not fit 04 cars.

Hi all. I got my 550i without the M-sport steering wheel. Although it is bigger and the grip is thinner, it has been sufficient. However, I do sometimes miss the M-sport steering wheel that was in my 540i.

To get the M steering wheel will cost AUD 2,500. I haven't done it as I don't think it's worth that much...but then again...I do kinda want it....

Help me decide!
How did you get the M kit without the steering wheel they are part of the package? Was the kit put on aftermarket?

Aboslutely no - $2.5k for the sport wheel which is a $250 option when new is nuts. Don't do it out of principle.

The sport wheel is a better wheel than standard but I do not like the slight textured finish and how hard it is - it is slippery IMO.

The smooth, softer finish on the 3 sport wheel is far better.

I would really like a new wheel -- I don't have heated and the one I have is too small for my big hands. However, haven't found one for a price that made me think it was worth it yet.
