Welcome to the board!

If you're in the South Bay, go to Extreme Tint & Polish on Scott St in Santa Clara (408-727-9540). I know about 5-6 members here who had their cars tinted there, including me. The cost was $250 for all five windows, excluding the front windshield.
Hey ECF - You changed your Avatar. I liked your old one. Is Dinan paying you for your marketing efforts?

Just another suggestion
Automall tint specialist:
http://www.automalltintspecialist.com/

Got my X5 and E60 done over there. I got the V-Kool in the front which looks fairly light but has great heat rejection, don't have to worry much about the cops pulling you over. My two brothers also got theirs tinted with the V-kool and it's great stuff.

Hate to tell you, but $300 is way high for Llumar tint. I had Llumar tint on my E39 and when I lived in SF, I paid $175. On my E60, I paid $160 for Llumar all the way around. AND, they even micro-edged the tint so that the tint looked factory installed (there was no gap between the edge of the tint and the window...not even a mm!).

I've also had very bad experiences at SF BMW. They screwed up my '03 E39 530 Sport on numerous occasions when I brought it in for servicing. I filed a suit with the owner b/c it got so bad. Dan - You're probably a solid guy, but just telling other members of my experiences at BMW SF.

It's all good, I got mine done for practically next to nothing because the guy was cool with me. As for your experiences at BMW SF I can understand if you've had problems but since I don't work in the service department I can't really say anything. It had nothing to do with me so if you want to share your experiences all I can do is just listen.

Dan

HAHA. I wish. Then again, maybe they're lurking on this forum and will give me a discount or some stuff for free.

I might change it back to the Dinan logo again...once I get confirmation that they'll be sending me my new DINAN badge...

Thanks ECF....I called them up last Friday but i guess they were closed for the holidays. Instead I called up a nice tint shop in Livermore. The guy was very knowledgable and gave me a quote of around 275 for all windows with Formula 1 tint. Anyone have experience with this type of tint?

If you want you can bring your car into my dealership at BMW SF and I know our tint guy that does BMW factory tinting, lifetime warranty. The type of tint is called Llumar and he can do just about any window. I just got my black 550i done yesterday covering all 7 windows at 35% all around. It's perfect and doesn't stand out that much, but it looks great. I should post up some pics of my car. The pricing should be around $300-$350.

Dan

dapel, I got quoted 350 for lumar by some tint shop i found in the yellowpages. I would agree with those that said that it's not the best price around. However, if they did a good job and you're satisfied, then congrats.

Also I've been to BMW SF many times but don't take it there anymore after the service dept. carelessly serviced my old SMG 530i which resulted in a PUMA case and a whole new ECU. Bad experience. but glad to hear you're not in service.

Good stuff man! I dunno, pricing is always competitive especially when it comes to jobs like these, I think I got a good deal so that good enough for me. In the end it's the final work that you come to appreciate and the looks and function of the tint that's what is important. A few hundred bucks is worth it especially in the summer time in Cali.

As for the service department here, haha I have no comment, I have observed some of the service guys here and sometimes wonder to myself how they're still here with CSI scores that make you go haha!

Anyhoo just go get your tints done and be happy with it!

Most of us got Madico but they can get any type that you want. At least that's what I recalled them saying. Also remember that there are specific tints to use if you have navigation so that there's no interference.
ECF - Are you using Madico Onyx?
