u cannot reset a Check Engine Light. If it's on, there's a problem. Or else it will go away after being fixed. Autozone will not turn it off. U can purchase one of those OBD-II things and turn it off urself but if something is wrong, it needs to be fixed.

if ur out of warranty, go to autozone and have the code pulled. Or u can go to an indy place and have them pull the code and see exactly what's wrong.

P1434 Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage Malfunction
Check your gas cap to make sure its tight, if not you may need to replace your leak detection pump.

Basically leak detection pump warning in general terms refers to gas cap warning, but if your gas cap is actually closed then obviously it could be something else.

P1434 Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage Malfunction this can mean several things but if the sensor is working correctly it means you have a leak in the fuel system it could be...
  • Just a leaky gas cap.
  • It could also mean you did not put the cap on tight.
  • a seal in the tank assembly is leaking or a damaged or leaky hose. There can be as much as a dozen hoses that lead from the tank out to other parts of the car....
  • Or from rodents. They just love rubber hoses, plastic, and tight places.
  • Human error, I seen a stereo install where the installer used long drywall screws to secure a box. It went threw the top of the gas tank.
  • Lastly and most unlikely it could be a bad pump or sensor. These don't normally go bad.
I suggest making sure the cap is tight and drive the car everydayday for the next two weeks. If the computer senses the proble was fix this code will disappear.
