My car does not have Navi and thus no TV function either. I wonder if I could add a aftermarket deck under the existing CD player and have them work at the same time. I want to keep the existing CD deck because I still want to control the CD playing via the steering wheel and IDrive.

So if I add a second deck, would the audio output be ok? For example, if I use the TV/DVD function on the aftermarket deck and switch off the OEM player, then would I be able to listen to the sound from the DVD?

Another question is, if the new deck has the equalizer function, would I be able to control the L7 with the new deck? Or should I say will I still be able to control the diversity of the L7 system?

I have a friend who installed an In-Dash Monitor with 6-Disc DVD Changer, I guess it works the same way if you add a new front. He was able to use both OEM and the new head unit, one would have to be switched off for the other one to work. As for the L7, it won't work with your new headunit only the OEM, unless you have the input sound from the new headunit into the AUX, which is unreasonable. If you have more questions I can try to help you out.

I just went to a local car stereo place today and they said what I want can be done. But they will have to lower the OEM CD player to where the existing opening is and put the new deck on where the OEM CD player is. That way the monitor can "come" out without hitting the shift knob. But then they will have to custom made a face plate for me to accomadate the two decks and they will cost me about $1,000.

Anyone has a better suggestion?

$1000 will only get me the "custom made" faceplate and relocation of the OEM deck.

I think with that money you could order the faceplate BMW uses for cars with the navi, move the cd player and then try to find a din adaptor for the original faceplate. I think should cost much less than 1000$.

Oh, I never thought of that! That's a great advice! I'll try to research more toward that direction. So apparently I can get that part on eBay for only $199!

Anyone know what's the size of the CCC? I want to know if I would be able to fit a 6.5" deep deck into where the CCC is.

Is the depth of the CCC same with the other aftermarket audio deck manufacturers'? Somewhere around 6.5"?
