Searching for Stock Sports Suspension for a 525i
#1
Hi All, I am new to this forum, and I am loving it already. I need help on finding stock sports suspension (springs and shocks) for my 2006 525i. I made a mistake of not including the sports package when I purchased the car. To my knowledge, the sports suspension lowers the car about 0.7in - 1in, is that correct? Please advise on any alternatives for lowering the car. I am searching for suspension that only lowers the car 1in the most. Thanks for your time.

I'm in the same boat as you. The sports suspension lowers the car .7". Really your only other options are the aftermarket springs by H&R or Eibach and those will lower a minimum of 1.2". I have an '07 530i and had the dealer price out the springs and shocks/struts for the sports suspension package which I can give you part numbers if you want them. My plan was, and probably still is, to buy the springs from the dealer and use the existing shocks until they wear out. You might have some luck posting a WTB in the classifieds section as someone may be replacing their setup with aftermarket.

Go with coilovers (KW Coilvers).

A few members on the forum have these and they love them. They're adjustable too, which is nice for those that want a desired ride height.
PS - Welcome to E60.net and congrats on the car!

coilovers can always be adjusted to a desired height. available coilovers that i know of are h&r, bilstein, and kw. for springs, eibach will lower 1.2 or 1.5. h&r sport springs will lower 1.4 in the front and 1.3 in the rear. h&r race springs will give a 2 inch drop. welcome and congrats on the car.

Hover the classified forums. I know many 525 owners who have switched out sports for coilovers.
Cheaper and easier way to lower your car is to get aftermarket spring.

Can you please provide me with the part number for the 525i sports suspension? I think I will go with buying the springs first and get Bilstein shocks afterwards. Thanks.
