Screws for RPI scoop

I am wondering why the scoop comes with that little "backing" piece that is supposed to go on the screw in order to secure the scoop. I cannot see why you cannot just use the screw to secure the scoop and not use those little round pieces. What is the point of them

the tape is mainly there to secure the scoop before putting on the screws so you wouldnt have to hold the scoop while screwing.

the screws on mine had a little round "saucer" thingy on the screw already, looked like a washer to me

Can you take a picture of it? The hardware included are just black self tapping screws. There shouldnt be a washer on any of them.

Well that is good since I did not use them as I saw no point. I simply used the screws without the extra piece that came with it-no wonder it did not make sense. I threw them away so all is well.
