Just bought an 05 545 that doesnt have the satalite option. How do I put it in or upgrade to a newer version of bmws controls. Not familiar with the abreviations so you will have to spell it out for me. Thanks

Im not very versed on the BMW audio/Idrive system software, but being around since July I have picked up on the fact you cant just upgrade or change your OME options. You either have it or don't.. any upgrades are costly and DIY.

IMO, Sat radio isnt worth having anyway..

mikejkd, you will need to visit a BMW dealer or Independent BMW shop. First you need to know if the car was wired for satellite radio. A dealer can use your VIN to confirm. If you are wired, you will then need to add the receiver then have the car programed (coded) for the option to show on the iDrive. Most new receivers come with a year of service but check to be sure.

AFAIK MY2007 (maybe late '06) came std pre-wired for SAT.

find out if your car was prewired for SAT. you'll need the SAT module, and it will need to be coded to the car. i dont have it in the 5er, but i do have it in my company car and i use it for hours every day. terrestrial radio completely blows donkey d*ck, i dont know how anyone listens to it for more than 5 minutes. good luck.
