Hi all...I have been away from this wonderfull forum for a long time now. Although i would like to share my thoughts with you all and give me your feedback.
I am planning to transplant an M5 S85 engine to my E60 which will cost approximetely 15.000 Euro. My question is does it worth it or its just a waste of money...

A real M5 would cost me more than i already gave for my E60. Taxes are horrible here. I need to pay 33.000 euro only for taxes. This was the only reason i didnt buy the original M5 from the beggining.
M5 Brake roters and disks are already installed as well as many other parts...
Even though i have most parts of the M5 installed on my car i will have them sold soon as the transformation includes all the parts interior and mechanical.

I think you need to buy a gearbox too... your current gearbox may explode with the M5 engine installed so geat the quote for M5 gearbox better manual one (not SMG that you will need steering, ecu, etc... get a manual). I think it is a lot of work but it is possible.

i am wondering were are you?i found this post:klik and try to see what is hapen after one and half year ago.I am in Greece (same tax system) and i thinking the same upgrade to m5.Waiting first to see your result.
questions:
a)15.000euro is the cost for all engine/trans/electric control suspensions/wrng.harness/job/etc?
b)khm: on your car and khm: on engine?
c)if you need some parts for some reason(malfunction/or broken...)what is the plan?
good luck
It all depends on what you want, power or more than that...
With this mod, you're simply upgrading the engine without
the associated M-related parts (suspension, gearbox etc).
In the end, do what makes you happy. After all, it's you
getting in and driving that car everyday

)buy a e60 520i only 170 hp.Yes,in this world many countries having the TOP of engine in 2000cc. if you buy a e60 530i the cost is very high,i see many of you guys in USA have a 545i or 550i (lucky guys with power under the hood.)trying to look better with mods you have a M5 look. What is the next step
OWER.This guy from Cyprus try the right think!!! He have a E60 full look M5 and want to fit a m5 engine and not a 540i or 550i.
If the car have all the parts from a M5 i think is safe.
