I'll buy 17" 225x50 94W (or higher velocity index)

What do you think of BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE 050 Summer tire 225/50 R17 94 W Certified for BMW? The price is 225EUR.

I had Dunlop SP Sport 01 RFT which I don't like ... too noisy and not comfortable.

Thank you for your opinion and experience!

I have the 18" Potenza RE 050's Run-flats on my '07 xi. I'm very happy with their "stick" and they are very quiet. I'm not expecting great tread life - probably no more than 30K of conservative driving. With the sport package the ride is firm but not punishing. BUT, even small pot-holes spell danger! In the US, my dealer price is about $375-$400 each installed (with BMWCCA discount).

BTW, I learned that the Bridgestone "certified" for BMW has a small star on it's sidewall. I have Dunlop Sport MAXX's on my Z3 Roadster. I like those too but found they are prone to flat-spotting - especially since the Z3 may sit unused for 2-4 weeks at a time during the winter months. They are NOT RFT.

Thank Luigi, sounds pretty convincing and reviews aren't bad too ... the tread life isn't anything I would be concerned about. And every time I try to save money on such things it costs me twice as much.

A friend of mine had the Bridgestone RE050A tires on her Infinity G35 Coupe. She got about 22,000 miles on them and they got noisy towards the end. The Bridgestone salesman said that was about what to expect in mileage. She replaced them with Bridgestone RE960AS tires which were about the same price. They are all season tires which are not as performance oriented but they come with a 40,000 mile warranty which was the main reason she bought them.
