Rubbing with 245/35/20 and 285/30/20
#1
Hey Guys,
I have recently purchased a new set of 20 inch alloys 9x20" Front 10x20" Rear A 5x120 et15, 5x120 et20. I have fitted 245/35/20 on the front and 285/30/20 on the rear. I am getting really bad rubbing.
Please can you advise on the best way to over come this problem?
Change tyre sizes? Roll the archs?
Anyone running those sizes without any problems?
Advice appreciated!
thanks,
Naz

Well, first off, your offsets in the rear are not high enough. AND, because you have a 285 tire back there, you are sticking out even farther...another 5mm. You are approximately 8mm out too far in the rear, hence the rubbing. Now, dropping down to a 275 still won't cure your problem, but it should be better. If you do that, along with rolling the fender in the rear, it should resolve the issue completely. I'd try rolling the fender first before I'd change the tire.
As for the front, same deal....the 9" wheel is causing your problems, not the tire. You are about 3mm too wide up there with your offset of ET15. You'd need ET18 up front, at least, to get rid of the rubbing, or a 235 tire with the same rim.
Sorry, buddy. Hopefully you can at least take care of most of the problems.

Wassup man,
Searching through tirerack dot com, if you have BBS LM-R wheels (i know wishful thinking ),
they recommend using 245/30 front 295/25 rear for 20s
Through the threads i've read, most members with 20s have cut and rolled their fenders especially if you
plan to lower your ride.
You can search through tirerack for your specific wheels and see whats the recommended tire sizes.

Thanx dude! I had a look on there, but couldn't find the exactly the same offsets. but ur right, they are using 295/25 for the wider rear '10''s.
Whose offsets are important!

Friends don't let friends drive stock!
I like the stretched look myself, I'd do the 235/35 front and 255/30 rear
Especially if u dont feel like cutting or rolling your fenders!
