I just acquired a 2010 550i and I feel that allowing the engine to breath is paramount. With that said I am planning on removing the charcoal filter and I have been looking at the RPI scoops as well as the BMC filter that RPI is offering as a package. I am not interested in a new CAI because of the little or no gain in the addition. My question is are the BMC filters oiled that RPI are selling and are there any draw backs of an oiled filter in these cars? Is it a better option to stay stock with the paper filter? Any input would great. Thanks.

p.s. This is a great forum and I have learned a lot from just searching and reading, thanks.

Welcome to the forum, finally a new member that knows how to use the search button...
As the the bmc I believe they are oiled similar to a k&n filter. With proper maintenance I don't see any drawback to using an oiled filter. The bmc filter breathes much better than the oem and as long as u are regularly cleaning and oiling it (make sure not to over oil) there won't be any issues.
