I ordered black roundels from Trinity to install in my car. I was in the process or removing the roundel from my hood when things took a turn for the worst. (The roundel is installed in the car by two plastic posts on the back that are seated into two grommets that are in the body of the car.) While removing the roundel, one of the posts snapped off. It was a clean break that was FLUSH with the grommet in the car.

That meant I couldn't pull it out with a pliers. I thought for a few minutes and then came up with the solution - I drilled a small pilot hole straight into the middle of the broken post. It then screwed a small "eye-screw" into the broken post. With the eye-screw installed, I was able to pull the post out of the grommet just like a cork out of a bottle

So - if any of you run into this problem - the eye-screw is an easy solution for pulling out the snapped roundel post.

I ran into the SAME problem 2 weeks ago. And I was going to do the screw but couldn't find the drill. I ended up using pliers and destroying part of the rubber piece.

An alternative quicker solution is to tap the broken post in with a small punch and hammer.

Glad you had a happy ending!

Murphy's Law has a way of screwing things up.
I find that such "surprises" seem to happen to me right after I say something like, "Oh, this will only take me a second to get done..."

Thanks for sharing.

I did the same thing, but with no drill. I used a screw I had laying around, a small thin one, screwed it into what was left of the post and pulled it out - no worries, no hassle.

Happened to me as well...I used the drill trick but it just kept spinning the gromet along with the post in it. I eventually used a plier to hold it and drilled at the same time. In the end I ended up destroying the grommet anyway....Replacement grommet on its way from onlinebmwparts.com...
