Retrofitting Nav in the E60 is a little less painful than doing it in the E90. Nevertheless people have done it even though the dealer will tell you its impossible.

Hi People,

There are of course some non "official" retrofit options such as:
  • Comfort seats (if you have the time, stamina, money and balls of steel)
(actually can find only 1 at the moment )

Please add as you can find others, I'll update this topic with relevant links to their retrofit pages or forum posts if available along with the average price and difficulty.

Talking of non-official retrofits for Automatic LCI cars - SPORTS AUTO TRANSMISSION - the best mod there is - IMO. Cost ?420, time to fit 30 minutes.

Regards,

Hi People,

Going to join the club of E60 owners in a few days after being a faithful E39 owner, and I've already been checking out what can be retrofitted.

Here's a few official BMW retrofit options:
  • Gearshift knobs
  • Steering wheel (heated)
  • M Kit sports suspension
  • Handbrake handle (wood/chrome)
  • Pedals in steel
  • Alloy rims (duh)
  • Rearview mirror (electrochrome)
  • Rear view mirror with compass
  • Rear Spoiler
  • Interior trim (wood/aluminium)
  • Armrest front (movable)
  • Illuminated door sills
  • Umbrella+holder
  • M Aerodynamic kit/spoiler
  • M Foot rest (next to pedals)
  • M door sills
  • Sun shield in back (mechanical?)
  • Rear view mirror with compass/garage door opener
  • Seat belt holder
  • Headlight cleaning system
  • Bi-Xenon headlights
  • Adaptive headlights
  • Auxiliary heating system w. Remote control
  • CD Changer
  • Alarm System
  • DVD System for rear passengers
  • TV Function
  • Aux connector for audio
  • Navigation Professional (big screen)
  • DVB-T
  • Ipod connection
  • PDC regular version
  • PDC Camera's rear/front
  • PDC cheap version (license plate)
  • Towing hitch
  • Bluetooth
  • Car phone professional
  • Voice input
  • Hands free cradle

There are of course some non "official" retrofit options such as:

(actually can find only 1 at the moment )

It would be easier and cheaper if you bought a car that had some of these "retrofits" as options.

I'd say a *lot* less painful, I only had to run 3 wires and I didn't have to rip out my dash! the coding saga is the same though.

no one has mentioned retro fitting leather heated seats into an e60 with basic cloth...
i know that there are loads of cloth equipted cars out there (bought one myself) and am in the process of trying to get them to work...
they are all fitted but there is no power/opperation at all? the large yellow block connecter was the same and the cloth had basic electric functions...so there must be a feed?
on my old e34 with cloth..i fitted a full set of alacantra with logo's from a m5 straight in and it was litrally plug and play..everything worked perfectly, does my e60 (2004) need any sort of interface/re program? im not worried about the heated function, i just want the seats to work via the switches?
help........
